Charli xcx Releases ‘Wuthering Heights’ Film Album

Charli xcx has unveiled her latest full-length album, Wuthering Heights, a cinematic body of work written specifically for Wuthering Heights, the newest feature film directed by Emerald Fennell and now playing in theatres.

Serving as both a standalone album and an integral narrative extension of the film, Wuthering Heights finds Charli stepping further into the world of film composition, delivering an emotionally charged soundtrack that mirrors the intensity, obsession, and psychological unraveling at the heart of the story. The project marks a significant creative evolution, positioning Charli not just as a pop innovator, but as a formidable force in contemporary cinema.

A Soundtrack Rooted in Obsession and Desire

Fennell’s reimagining of the classic love story stars Margot Robbie as Cathy and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, presenting a darker, more psychologically charged interpretation of forbidden love. The film explores themes of lust, power, emotional dependency, and self-destruction, framed within a dramatic period setting that amplifies its tragic undertones.

Charli’s music acts as an emotional undercurrent throughout the film, weaving together haunting melodies, distorted textures, and vulnerable vocal moments that intensify the characters’ descent into obsession. Rather than functioning as background accompaniment, the album actively shapes the film’s atmosphere, reinforcing its most volatile emotional shifts and moments of quiet devastation.

Expanding Her Cinematic Footprint

Beyond Wuthering Heights, Charli xcx continues to rapidly expand her presence in the film world. This month, she stars in The Moment, an upcoming release from A24, based on her original concept and directed by Aidan Zamiri. The project marks the first co-production from Charli’s newly launched venture, studio365, signaling a long-term commitment to storytelling beyond music.

Following its premiere at Sundance, The Moment quickly became A24’s fastest-selling limited release, further cementing Charli’s credibility as a multidisciplinary creative force capable of crossing industries with ease.

A Packed Film Slate Ahead

Charli’s growing film résumé continues to expand with roles in several highly anticipated projects, including Faces of Death, I Want Your Sex, The Gallerist, 100 Nights of Hero, Sacrifice, and Erupcja.

With each new project, Charli continues to blur the boundaries between pop music, performance art, and cinema—reshaping what it means to be a modern pop star in the process.

Blurring the Line Between Pop and Film

Wuthering Heights stands as a defining moment in Charli xcx’s career, reinforcing her ability to translate emotional extremity into sound while embracing bold, unconventional creative risks. As pop artists increasingly venture into film, Charli’s approach feels deliberate and deeply integrated, treating music and cinema as two halves of the same artistic language.

The full album is now available to stream on Spotify and all major platforms.
