Inside Avicii’s Studio: New Docuseries Episode Reveals the Making of “Sunset Jesus”

Fans of Avicii now have an exclusive look behind the scenes of one of the EDM legend’s most iconic tracks. Today, the latest episode of Stories on Stories, a YouTube docuseries celebrating Avicii’s creative journey, was released, offering an intimate glimpse into the making of “Sunset Jesus.”

The second episode features never-before-seen studio footage of Tim Bergling, known worldwide as Avicii, collaborating with renowned producer Rami Yacoub. Viewers also witness a vocal session with singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw, who contributed to the early development of the track. This episode provides a rare peek into how the song’s melodies, lyrics, and overall structure evolved before reaching its final version.

During the session, fans can see Bergling and Yacoub experimenting with different sounds and lyrics. One early vocal take includes the line, “My dreams are made of gold / my heart’s been broken and I’m down along the road,” revealing the heartfelt emotion behind the track. While the final version features vocals by Avicii collaborator Sandro Cavazza, this episode highlights the song’s creative foundation and the vulnerable optimism that defined it.

Produced by the Avicii estate and Pophouse Entertainment, Stories on Stories was launched to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Avicii’s second album, Stories. The series fulfills Bergling’s wish of sharing his filmed studio sessions with fans. The first episode, released in November, focused on the making of “For a Better Day.” The final episode of the docuseries is set to premiere on January 1st, 2026.

Fans can now watch the full second episode on YouTube and experience the magic of Avicii’s creative process firsthand. This docuseries not only honors his musical legacy but also provides inspiration for aspiring producers and music lovers alike.
