Berlin-based DJs and producers Mira and Mila Stern have officially launched their new imprint, MiZi MuZiK. The label marks a bold, independent move in a shifting club culture, driven by their years-long friendship, shared values, and love for dancefloor-focused electronic music.

A Longtime Vision Comes to Life
“It’s been a dream in the making,” says Mira, reflecting on the journey that led to launching the label. “We wanted full creative control — no compromises.”
Mila Stern adds, “The autonomy is everything. This is ours, and that’s both exciting and terrifying.”
MiZi MuZiK’s debut release, ‘MiZi TaPeS 001’, features an all-female roster, highlighting a core part of the label’s mission — representation in an industry where female producers remain underrepresented.
From Small Town to Shared Vision
Though both come from Halle/Saale, Mira and Mila never met there. “People used to say she looked like me, even acted like me,” recalls Mira. “When we finally met in Berlin, it felt like meeting a sister.”
That instant chemistry has become the bedrock of the label. “Our vibe is intuitive,” says Mila. “There’s a natural rhythm between us. We don’t need long talks to make decisions — we just get it.”
A Statement of Intent: Women Front and Center
Mira emphasizes the significance of the debut’s all-female lineup. “We wanted to make a statement. These collaborations were fresh and unexpected — a joy to create.”
Mila adds, “After 17 years in the industry, I’ve dealt with imposter syndrome, harassment, being ignored. Supporting FLINTA* artists isn’t just a gesture — it’s necessary. This release reflects our reality and the people who inspire us.”
What They Look for in Music
Both artists crave music that surprises. “I need sounds that push me out of my comfort zone,” says Mira, who’s been DJing for nearly three decades. “I’m drawn to tracks that reflect today’s energy but carry echoes of the ’90s.”
Mila agrees: “We don’t follow formulas. If a demo makes me rethink my next set, I know it’s worth exploring.”
Berlin’s Scene: Changing but Still Burning
Berlin’s legendary nightlife is evolving. “It’s different now,” says Mira. “Clubs are closing, costs are rising. But the DIY spirit and no-phone policies still make Berlin special.”
Mila finds inspiration in the cracks. “Fragmentation isn’t bad. It creates space for niche scenes and independent ideas. That’s what excites me.”
Rituals, Raving, and Real Life
What keeps them grounded? For Mira, it’s Pilates, biking, and festival wandering. “I use festival season to discover new music and plan my big birthday rave,” she shares.
Mila thrives on alone time, long walks, and the occasional rave — as a dancer, not a DJ. “That soft chaos — it fuels my creativity.”
Where MiZi MuZiK Is Headed
Looking ahead, the duo is dreaming big. Vinyl releases, curated events, and stage takeovers at festivals like ADE and Off Sonar are on the horizon.
But they’re not rushing. “We want to grow organically,” says Mila. “Follow curiosity, not strategy.”
Words of Advice
Their advice to aspiring artists?
“Keep it real,” says Mira. “Do what you love.”
Mila adds, “Don’t do it all alone. Find your people. Build together. It makes everything better.”
