Mwanzo: La’Dell’s Soundtrack for New Beginnings

Some words carry a destiny within them. For Brooklyn-born producer and DJ La’Dell, the word Mwanzo—Swahili for new beginnings—appeared at exactly the right moment.

La’Dell

His upcoming EP, out September 25th, 2025 on Cafe De Anatolia Records, is not just music but a declaration of renewal, identity, and purpose.

Music as a Pathway

La’Dell’s path into electronic music wasn’t planned—it unfolded like a calling. Raised on Motown, Hip-Hop, and R&B, he later discovered the transformative power of the underground scene while working in New York’s nightlife. Nights spent at marathon showcases in Brooklyn and witnessing the soul-stirring magic of Black Coffee in Ibiza changed the trajectory of his life.

“Music became more than sound for me,” he says.
“It became the language I use to connect energy and emotion, body and soul.”

The Birth of Mwanzo

The Mwanzo EP emerged during a period of deep transition. Searching for clarity, La’Dell discovered a vocal sample that instantly captured his attention. The track grew from there, taking on a life of its own. Only later did he learn the meaning of the word that anchored the piece: new beginnings.

“It felt like the universe speaking directly to me,” he reflects.
“A reminder that even in uncertainty, there is always the chance to start again.”

A Fusion of Spirit and Sound

The EP carries an Afro-House heartbeat, infused with ancestral energy and the spirit of resilience. For La’Dell, it was a process of channeling frustration and hope into rhythm, transforming global chaos into something healing and uplifting. “I wanted to create music that feels like liberation,” he explains.
“Something people can dance to but also feel deep inside.”

A Global Family

Releasing with Cafe De Anatolia felt like a natural alignment. The label, known for uniting cultures through electronic music, gave La’Dell the platform to share his vision with the world.

“I’ve admired their ethos for years,” he says. “To release Mwanzo with them is more than a career milestone—it’s a connection to a global family.”

Beyond Mwanzo

La’Dell sees this EP as both a personal turning point and the foundation of what’s to come. With projects across New England, a festival in Germany in 2026, and plans for his own label and event series Sunday Scaries, he is stepping boldly into the future. For La’Dell, Mwanzo is more than a release—it is a beginning. A new chapter. A reminder that music, at its core, is about transformation.

“I’m in no rush,” he says. “This journey is about growth, authenticity, and enjoying every step along the way.”
